Description
Manor Cottages, consisting of Nos. 1 and 2, are an old pair of cottages located on Stanbury Road in Thruxton. They date from the 18th century, with some 20th-century extensions. The cottages are constructed of brick and thatch and feature a front elevation that is one storey high with an attic, displaying three windows above four. The roof is half-hipped with a catslide at the rear, and the eaves are raised above the upper windows. The brickwork is painted and laid in Flemish bond, with one cambered opening and one blocked doorway. The windows are casements, and the upper windows have segmental lights on each side. No. 1 has a boarded door, while No. 2 has a flat-roofed brick porch. Above the former doorway is a stone plaque that is incised with the initials HC EC and the date 1734.
