Description

Forge Cottage is an 18th-century cottage that incorporates a former forge building. The house is timber-framed with plaster infill, while the forge has cob walls set on chalk and flint. The roof is thatched, with a hip form, lower over the forge section, and includes an eyebrow dormer. The building is one storey and an attic, with a lower element of one storey relating to the former forge. The fenestration is irregular. The west end has a jettied timber frame. Casement windows are present throughout. Plain doorways are characteristic, with the house door located in an angle and featuring carved brackets to a hood now covered by thatch.
