Description
Fyfield Grange is a house built in the mid-18th century, with late 18th-century extensions that form an L-shape, along with some minor 20th-century additions. The structure is made of flint and brick, topped with a tile roof. The south front features two storeys and an attic, originally with five windows, although the two bays on the west side are now obscured by a projecting wing that has two windows. The main block has a mansard roof, with the hip at the west end concealed by the wing, which has a double-pile roof that culminates in two gables on the west-facing side. There are two dormers and brick dentil eaves. The walls display flint panels between the openings and extend below the cill level with a brick step leading to the plinth, featuring rubbed flat upper and cambered lower arches. The windows are 20th-century leaded casements that replaced earlier sash windows, and there is a 20th-century door set within a plain frame, topped by a large moulded canopy supported by carved brackets. The south face of the wing is rendered, while the west elevation showcases red brickwork in Flemish bond with blue headers, featuring high-level arched windows (the south side now filled) beneath each gable. The rear (north) elevation is partly obscured by a two-storey flat-roofed block, but it includes two early 19th-century sash windows.
