Description

Pond Cottages comprise an L-shaped row of cottages dating back to the 18th century, with early 19th-century additions and 20th-century extensions. The cottages are constructed from brick and rendered cob, with roofs covered in old plain tiles and thatch. One wing, facing the road, is a four-bay brick structure. It features 12-pane sashes at one end and in the road-side bay, along with a segmental-headed opening filled with blue brick. The first floor includes a two-light segmental-headed casement in the second bay, a similar casement in the third bay, and a two-light casement where a door was previously blocked. A toothed eaves detail and a ridge stack are visible between the road-end bays. The cob wing, four bays in width, has two-light casements on both floors. Added bays feature garage doors, above which are two-light casements. A pair of doors, sheltered by a thatched hood supported by timber posts, are located between the second and third bays of the brick range. The roof is half-hipped, with a tiled link to the brick range and a stack at the end of the thatched portion.
