Description
Windmill Cottages is a cottage dating from the late 17th century or early 18th century, with alterations and additions from the 19th century. It is constructed of flint with brick quoining and features a long-straw thatched roof with two eyebrow dormers at the front. There is a brick stack at the left-hand gable end. The cottage is single storey with an attic and has single storey brick lean-to additions against the left-hand gable end wall and at the rear.
The building has three bays with an entrance located to the right of the centre on the front. An early 20th-century brick gabled porch with a panelled door has been built in front of the doorway, which has a vertical plank door. To the left of the porch is a 19th-century four-light casement window, and to the right is a two-light casement window, both set in segmental brick arched openings. The dormers feature two-light casements with sidelights, and all casements have horizontal glazing bars.
Inside, there is a large inglenook fireplace and exposed stop-chamfered joists. The interior also includes early 18th-century doors and a queen strut roof.
