Description
Ibthorpe Farm House is an early 18th-century L-shaped house located on Main Street in Hurstbourne Tarrant. The building is constructed of brick and tile, featuring a symmetrical front (south) with two storeys and three windows. It has a hipped roof with carved brick dentil eaves. The walls are made of blue and brindle headers with flush red dressings, including quoins, rubbed flat arches, and a plinth in English bond. The windows are sash types set in exposed frames. The entrance consists of a six-panelled door, two of which are glazed, framed by an architrave and topped with a moulded canopy that has a panelled soffit and carved brackets above plain pilasters, along with a stone step.
The long east elevation is regular, also with two storeys and three windows, displaying similar architectural features and a broken first-floor band. The upper windows are old mullion and transom casements with leaded lights, while the lower windows are triple sashes. There is a former doorway that has been partly filled and replaced with a narrow window. The west and north walls of the front block feature narrow horizontal flint panels.
