Description

This is a house, originally a 17th century timber-frame building. The older section was altered in the early 19th century with decorative “Cottage Orne” features, and a cross-wing was added to the east side in 1870. The older part of the building is mainly rendered with a flint and brick finish to the later sections. It has a thatched and slate roof. The house is arranged in an L-shape.

The older section is one storey and has an attic, while the later cross-wing is two storeys high, with a single-storey rear extension. The thatched roof has a dormer with decorative diagonal rustic woodwork on the north side. The slate roof has decorative bargeboards to the gables. Although some framework is exposed, the front (north) of the older part features a verandah with two wide French doors and a slated roof. The later section has flint panels and brick quoins, with cambered openings and the date 1870 incorporated into the front gable. Windows are casements, and there are boarded doors to both the front and rear of the property.
