Description
The Former Masonic Hall, built in 1902 by Coggin and Wallis, is located on Station Road in Aldershot. This building is designed in a Dutch/Jacobean style and features an elaborately ornamental gabled front that faces the street. It stands two storeys high with an attic, constructed of red brick in English bond, accented with stone dressings that highlight its architectural features.
The gable is adorned with flush bands that connect to an ornamental roundel. Below this, there is a six-light window topped with a cornice and flanked by Tuscan three-quarter columns. On either side of the gable, there are banded stacks that have a moulded link to the gable. The first floor showcases a full Order supported by four Composite capitals above panelled pilasters, which enclose triple round-headed mullion/transom windows. Each corner of the first floor has four deep flush bands.
On the ground floor, the building has a stepped plinth and features a narrow window on each side of an elaborate porch. This porch includes an arch set within a classical arched framework supported by paired Tuscan columns.
