Description
26 and 28 Grosvenor Road is a late 19th-century shop with accommodation above, located on a prominent corner at a crossroads in Aldershot. The building features three storeys and a hipped slate roof with eaves supported by coupled brackets, and the corner is chamfered. The upper floor is constructed of yellow brick with stucco detailing, including a moulded band and architraves. The windows on the upper storeys consist of two on each façade and one on the corner, all featuring sashes set in reveals. The ground floor is extensively covered in stucco, showcasing wide, cambered, full-length window openings with patterned spandrels and rusticated pilasters. The entrance is located on the north elevation, and painted shop name signs are displayed above the lower storey on each elevation.
To the north on Grosvenor Road, there is a three-storeyed extension that is lower in height, with a shop front similar to the main building but with plain upper storeys.
The building does not appear on the Ordnance Survey map of 1888 but is marked on the 1897 map, indicating it was constructed between these dates.
