Description
Two stone sculptures are located by the entrance to Princes Hall in Aldershot. Dating from around 1859, these carved stone plaques are mounted on low bases and are the remaining parts of the former gateway to the East Cavalry (Warburg) Barracks. The plaques are rectangular white stone blocks with a cambered top edge. Each features high relief carving of the initials VR (Victoria Regina) enclosed within an oval wreath of oak leaves, accompanied by crossed ribbons. On each side, there is a branch of laurel leaves. At the bottom of one plaque, the words 'EAST CAVALRY BARRACKS' are incised, while the other reads 'ERECTED AD 1859'.
