Description
The Church of St Joseph's is a Roman Catholic church built between 1912 and 1913 by architect George Drysdale. It has a wedge-shaped plan with a rounded east end located at the junction of Queen's Road and Edward Street. The high side walls feature doorways on each street at different levels, with windows above that provide clerestory lighting. A bell-turret is notably visible due to the ground sloping down to the east. Inside, the church has a basilica layout with an impressive character, showcasing rich textures and original furnishings. The exterior is constructed entirely of brick, with the upper levels in dark brindle and the side walls featuring brindle-banded red.
