Description

Greyholme is a building located on Victoria Road in Aldershot, constructed in 1897. It features an ostentatious facade, while the side elevations are plainer and of greater historical significance. The building has two storeys with an attic in the tower. The front includes a slightly projecting tower topped with ornamental rails and a very steep roof. The top floor has a single round-headed window set within an arched frame with a keystone. The first-floor windows are coupled and feature keystones tied to a bend, hoodmoulds, and a continuous cill. The ground floor is distinguished by a cornice, rusticated walling, and a wide doorway framed in the Tuscan Order.

On the east side of the front, there are coupled windows above a ground-floor bay, while the west side has a two-storeyed bay with three windows. Additional features include bracketted eaves, bands, quoins, a plinth, and panels beneath some windows.

The long east side elevation showcases elaborate chimney stacks, one of which is projected on arched first-floor brackets. It also has several narrow round-arched windows arranged asymmetrically and a large first-floor segmental bay with three windows. The west side elevation contains a dated cartouche on a plain wall, with a set-back rear extension divided into two parts: one being a timber-framed entrance and the other a wall with irregularly arranged openings, including a segmental first-floor turret. The roof is slate, the walls are rendered, and the windows are sash.
