Description
This building is a barn located 15 meters west of North Allenford Farmhouse, dating from the early 18th century and 19th century. It features a brick barn and an attached cottage, with an added bay that is timber-framed and weatherboarded, topped with a plain tile roof. The barn has five bays and is set back at one end, while the cottage, which is two stories and has two bays, is located at the other end, along with an added stable bay.
The road-facing side has a central hipped porch, with the ends weatherboarded. The left-hand bays have a lean-to in front. At the left end, the cottage has a central 20th-century timber porch and two-light casement windows. The right end features a stable bay with a lean-to on the end. The roof is half-hipped, and there is a stack over the left-hand bay and at the end of the cottage. Inside, the roof structure consists of queen-posts, raking posts, and small struts supporting the lower purlins on large cambered tiebeams.
