Description
Meridian Cottage and Old Forge is a row of cottages, now functioning as two separate homes. The original structure dates back to the early 17th century and was extended in the late 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building features a timber frame with painted brick infill and a slate roof. The original part consists of three bays, with the eaves raised, and an additional bay was added, followed by three more later bays. It is two storeys high. The front of the building has the oldest section on the left-hand side, which has a low brick plinth for the first two bays and a higher plinth for the rest. There are doors at both the left-hand end and at the left end of the addition. Each bay contains 20th-century casement windows, with two, three, or four lights on each floor. The roof is half-hipped at the right-hand end and features weatherboarding on the gable.
