Description

These are three cottages, now combined into two dwellings, located on Christ Church Lane. The core of the building dates to the 17th century, with additions made in the 18th century. The construction is timber framed, originally with a rendered finish imitating ashlar, and later extended with painted and rendered brick. The roof is covered in plain tiles. The original 17th-century section is on the left, extended to the right by two 18th-century bays. The cottages are one storey high with an attic. Brick end stacks are integrated into the structure. The attic is lit by three gabled dormers, each with a 2-light wooden casement window. The front facade has four windows; the lower windows are 2-light wooden casements dating back to the 19th century. A pair of smaller, inserted 2-light wooden casement windows are found beneath the eaves. A 20th-century gabled wooden porch stands between the first and second windows from the left, containing a boarded door. A similar 20th-century gabled rendered porch with a late 20th-century panelled door is located between the third and fourth windows from the left. Single-storey lean-to extensions, painted and with 2-light wooden casement windows facing forward, are present on both the left and right sides. The interior of the original 17th-century bay features chamfered spine beams and a large open fireplace with a chamfered wooden lintel.
