Description

Walkmill Bridge is a bridge dated 1783, with alterations made in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of dressed red sandstone and features a single elliptical arch that has a raised keystone and voussoirs with a stepped extrados. The abutments have canted retaining walls. In the 19th century, the parapet was raised by one course, and the chamfered coping was either replaced or added. The keystone on the downstream side is inscribed with "I.S. Fecit 1783".
