Description

This is a house, now a public house, dating from the 17th century, with remodelling occurring in the early to mid-19th century. The building is constructed of red brick with a plain tile roof. It has one storey and an attic. The large gable on the right side features two four-pane sash windows, with painted stone sills and lintels. A gabled dormer window to the left has a three-light wooden casement. Brick end stacks are shared with the adjacent buildings at numbers 49 and 53. The ground floor has been partly rebuilt in the late 20th century, incorporating a pair of flat-roofed square bays and a central half-glazed door. This door is surrounded by a mid-19th-century design with scrolled brackets supporting a 20th-century flat hood. The interior is of no particular interest. The building is included on the list for group value.
