Description
This is an early 19th-century house located on the south-east side of Shropshire Street in Market Drayton. The house is constructed of red brick with plain tile roofs. It comprises three storeys with a two-storey wing. The building features a dentil brick eaves cornice and parapeted gable ends with sandstone copings and moulded stone kneelers. An integral brick end stack is visible on the left. The front has a two-window facade to the left, with four-pane sashes, moulded boxes, and painted stone cills and lintels. A central door has three lower beaded flush panels and two upper moulded panels, set within a wooden doorcase consisting of fluted pilasters, an entablature and a triangular pediment. Thirteen brick and stone steps lead to the front door. A two-storey addition is visible to the right, indicated by a straight joint, and has a stone-coped parapet, a truncated external brick end stack, and single tripartite glazing bar sashes on each floor, with painted sandstone cills and lintels. A parallel gabled range extends to the rear, with an external brick end stack on the right. A blocked attic window is present in the left-hand gable end. The interior contains an early 19th-century dog-leg staircase with a closed string, rectangular-section stick balusters, a ramped handrail, and square newel posts. A depressed archway is located at the foot of the stairs, featuring a moulded architrave, panelled reveals, and a soffit.
