Description

The Old Channel Hill Farmhouse, now a house, dates back to the 16th century and was remodelled in the 18th century, with further alterations after a fire in 1982. The construction is timber-frame with a brick casing and extensions, and features a plain tile roof. The farmhouse comprises a single-storey and attic 16th-century section, which projects to the rear, and a two-storey, single-bay 18th-century block set back to the right.

On the front elevation, to the left of the 18th-century section, is a doorway sheltered by a porch built against the earlier part of the building, alongside a two-light casement window. A raised band runs along the first floor, with a similar window above. The older part of the farmhouse has two or three-light windows to the right, and three-light gabled dormers in the 20th century have been added to the roof. The roof on the left side is half-hipped, with a ridge stack positioned between the bays. The roof of the right-hand section is also half-hipped to the left, with a stack to the right.
