Description

Swiss Cottage and Marsh Gate are two cottages dating from the 16th century, with an early 19th century extension on the east side and a mid-19th century extension on the west side. The cottages feature a partly-exposed timber frame with rendered and brick infill, while the west side has brickwork arranged in Flemish garden wall bond. The roof is thatched, with eyebrow dormers and a hipped design at the east end, sloping to low eaves above an outshot. The west end has a tiled roof with a gable above the upper window. The south front consists of two storeys and one storey with an attic, featuring a total of 1.3 windows. The early 19th century windows are cast-iron casements, and there are plain 20th century open porches.
