Description
This is a pair of cottages, dating from the early to mid-18th century. They are timber-framed and have been clad in weatherboards, with a red plain tile hipped roof. The cottages are single-storeyed and feature a five-window arrangement, comprising one 19th-century vertical sliding sash window, two 19th-century horizontal sliding sash windows, and two 20th-century casement windows. A central chimney stack is built of red brick. There is one boarded door and one 20th-century panelled door. Inside, the original timber frame remains, including stop-chamfered bridging joists with run-out stops. This represents a typical example of an 18th-century Marshland Cottage, a style now rare in such a well-preserved condition.
