Description
This is a barn located 50 metres north-east of Wade Hill Farm, likely built in the 18th century. The structure features a weatherboarded timber frame with a brick plinth and some brick infilling. It has a slate roof with gabled and half-hipped ends. The barn is designed with six bays, including a threshing floor in the fourth bay, flanked by midstreys on either side.
On the west front, there is a gabled midstrey to the right of the centre, while the east front has a hipped midstrey to the left of the centre. The lower parts of the walls on the east front display exposed timber-framing with brick infilling.
Inside, the barn has jowled wall-posts with short straight braces supporting tie-beam trusses. There are two tiers of purlins; the lower purlins are square-set and tenoned to the principals, with short braced posts below, while the upper purlins are clasped by high collars. The common rafters are complete and feature a ridge-board, although some of the wall-framing studs and rails have been replaced.
