Description
Beulah Barn is a threshing barn dating from around 1600. It features a weatherboarded timber frame set on a brick plinth and has a steeply pitched pantile roof. The barn has a four-stead design with a gabled wing to the east, creating an L-shaped plan. There is a waggon entrance with large double doors on the west wall, which is off-centre. The south gable has later double doors and a window opening. The eastern wing includes cat-slide extensions on both the north and south sides.
Inside, the barn has jowled principal posts with arch-braces supporting the tie beams that flank the waggon entrance bay. The walls are constructed with full height close studding and corner braces attached to the main posts. The north bay shows signs of having been floored and partitioned from the main barn. The roof structure consists of reduced principals and upper clasp purlins, along with lower butt purlins and straight wind braces. The range to the east has two tiers of butt purlins, with timber knees replacing the arch-braces to the central tie beam. The flooring is made of stone slabs and bricks. There are single-storey additions to both the east and west of the barn.
