Description

The Old Rectory is a house that dates from the 17th and 19th centuries. It features a combination of colour-washed brick and timber framing, topped with hipped slate and tile roofs. The 19th-century section consists of a three-cell range, while the rear includes a two-cell range from the 17th century.

The south facade has three bays and stands two storeys high. It is highlighted by a central doorcase with fluted pilasters and a plain cornice, leading to a six-panel door with an overlight. To the left of the door is a 20th-century glazed conservatory, and to the right is a 19th-century bay window with sash windows. Above the door, there is a 12-pane sash window, with additional sash windows to the left and right, each having one vertical glazing bar.

The rear range is also two storeys, with a ground floor made of brick featuring a 19th-century three-light casement window with glazing bars. There is a timber porch leading to a plank door, and a canted bay window with a small light to the right. The first floor is plastered and has three two-light casement windows with glazing bars, along with a 19th-century attic casement. The house has an axial stack and the north gable wall is made of brick.

Inside, the 17th-century range includes a chamfered transverse beam and joists, along with 17th-century brick in the fireplace. There is also a dado with egg and dart moulding along the rail.
