MARTIN Toyd Down SU 02 SE 1/6 Large Barn and Cartshed to south of Toyd Farmhouse

GV II

Barn, later converted into stabling with cartshed to east. Mid C18, altered C19. Barn is weatherboarded on brick plinth. Half-hipped slate roof. 3 window openings to front. Double cart entrance and hipped cart entrance to rear. 5 bay barn. Double staggered purlin roof with ridge piece. Queen post roof with collar beam and jowled posts with curved profile. C19 boarded panelling to base of walls dating from conversion to stabling. Cartshed with hayloft above to east is of 2 bays and open fronted on wooden piers to ground floor. Original C19 roof structure of angled queen struts and 2 tiers of through purlins with C19 roof built on top.
