Description
Toyd Farmhouse is an early 18th-century farmhouse that originally consists of three bays and was extended to the left by two bays in the mid-19th century when it was also refenestrated. The building is constructed of red brick with a tiled roof and features three brick chimneystacks. It stands two storeys tall with the original three bays displaying three sash windows that have vertical glazing bars only. There is a brick modillion cornice and plinth, and a central 20th-century plank door is set beneath a modern hipped tiled porch supported by wooden piers. The two-bay extension matches the original materials and has similar windows with verticals only and cambered heads on the ground floor. The rear elevation includes a projecting two-storey section with 16-pane sashes and an outshot. Inside, the farmhouse has an inglenook fireplace with a wooden bressumer, side seats, and a chamfered spine beam with lambs tongue stops. There are also one or two reused timbers in the wall plate at the rear of the house.
