Description
The barn at Taplin's Farm, located to the north-east of the farmhouse, dates from the 17th and 18th centuries. It is a small five-bay structure featuring a gabled extension in the center of the north face that slightly projects beyond the aisles on that side. The barn is constructed with a timber frame set on a brick base, incorporating straight struts between the posts and tie-beam, as well as between the tie-beam and purlins. The walls exhibit exposed timber framing on the west and north sides, complemented by a boarded projection; the remainder of the walls consists of red brickwork and infill. The roof is modern, covered with shingles and hipped at the ends.
