Description

No 197 on Castle Street is a 19th-century building that likely has an earlier structure beneath its facade. The exterior is finished in stucco and features decorative vermiculated quoins, a cornice, and a parapet. The building has two storeys and a single window, which is a 19th-century bay with unbarred sash windows on both levels. At the north side of the facade, there is a door framed by a modified Gibbs architrave, topped with a vermiculated keystone and a rectangular fanlight. This property is part of a group that includes Nos 183 and 185, No 189, Nos 193 to 201 (odd), No 195A, and Nos 209 to 219 (odd), as well as Nos 200 to 204 (even) across the street.
