Description

This is an 18th-century building located on Castle Street, Portchester. It is constructed of red and grey brick with rubbed red brick dressings, and features end chimneys and a coped parapet. A string course runs along the facade at first-floor height. The building is two and a half storeys high, with two dormers featuring hipped gables. It has three windows; the outer windows are two-storey high, set within brick panels, and contain sash windows with late 19th-century glazing. The central doorway is topped by a red brick arch, stuccoed below impost bands, and includes a fanlight. A single-storey outshut to the south has a round-arched door with a plain fanlight. The building is part of a group which includes numbers 183, 185, 189, 193 to 201 (odd), 195A, 209 to 219 (odd), and 200 to 204 (even) on the opposite side of the street.
