Description
Crown House is a late 18th century to early 19th century building located on Castle Street in Portchester. It features a stucco facade with a plinth and has an old tiled roof that is hipped at the northwest end. The house is two storeys tall and has two windows, which are two-storey canted bays topped with a dentil cornice and fitted with sashes that have glazing bars. The central door is adorned with a pediment, a moulded architrave, and panelled pilasters, and it is a six-panelled door with the top two panels now glazed. The side facade also has a string course and contains four windows, which are sashes with glazing bars. A garage has been inserted at the ground floor. Crown House is part of a group that includes Nos 183 and 185, No 189, Nos 193 to 201 (odd), No 195A, and Nos 209 to 219 (odd), along with Nos 200 to 204 (even) located opposite.
