Description

Castle Cottage is a building dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century, located on Castle Street in Portchester. It features a painted brick facade and a hipped old tiled roof with a gable end facing the street. The building has three storeys and one window on the street facade, which is a sash window with an exposed frame and glazing bars on the second floor. There is a two-storey angular bay added in the late 19th century at the ground and first floors. The garden or southeastern facade has four windows and a fine early 19th-century trellised porch. Castle Cottage is part of a group of buildings that includes Nos 183 and 185, No 189, Nos 193 to 201 (odd), No 195A, and Nos 209 to 219 (odd), which are located opposite Nos 200 to 204 (even).
