Description
This barn, located 50 metres south of Lode Farmhouse, dates from the early to mid 19th century and includes stable and shed extensions. It features walls made of chalkstone, ironstone, and brick, topped with a combination of slate and tile roofs. The barn is a rectangular structure positioned at right angles to the roadway, with extensions on either side. The main section is constructed from rough chalkstone ashlar with brick dressings and has tiers of ventilation slots, along with a half-hipped slate roof. The east wing has a steep tile roof that matches the ridge height of the main barn and is built from stone and brick above a brick base. The smaller west wing, which serves as a stable, has walls made of ironstone with a chamfered corner and a hipped slate roof. This building is included for its group value.
