Description
Kingsley Mill is a watermill and attached millhouse that has been converted into a single dwelling. It dates from the late 18th century and underwent restoration in the 20th century. The building features brick and stone walls topped with a tiled roof. The mill section is a long rectangular structure with two storeys and an attic, characterized by a plain roof that includes a small gabled dormer on each side. The walls are constructed in Flemish bond with blue headers and feature original cambered openings. There are three narrow water passages with stonecut waters; one side has a timber beam head while the other has arched heads. The windows are casements, and there are boarded doors.
Attached to the north end of the mill is the house section, which has walls made of coursed chalkstone with brick dressings, including quoins, some cambered openings, and a plinth. Most of the windows in this section are 20th-century metal casements. The 18th-century doorway is framed simply and includes a fanlight, a moulded canopy, and a six-panelled door. There are also minor lower extensions on the east side, which have tiled roofs and brick walls.
