Description

Milestone located opposite No 279 on London Road in Horndean. This 18th-century milestone features a tall square shape with a domed top and has carved distances on one face from the 18th century. The side facing the road displays a mid-19th century cast plaque that is bolted to it, inscribed with "58 miles from London, 6 from Petersfield, 11 to Portsmouth," which has altered the original distances carved in the 18th century.
