Description

A short row of three cottages, located on Catherington Lane in Horndean, dates primarily to the 17th century, with 18th-century extensions and 20th-century restoration work. The cottages are constructed with an exposed timber frame featuring a jettied first floor. The infill between the timbers is a mix of plaster and brick, with the southern side exhibiting a brick wall laid in English bond beneath the jetty. Later extensions are built with brickwork laid in Flemish bond, distinguished by the use of blue headers. The roof is thatched, with hipped ends at both the north and south, and slate covering the extensions. The east-facing facade has two storeys and four windows, featuring modern casement windows. The entrance is marked by one boarded door and two modern panelled doors, all set within plain frames.
