Description

This 18th-century milestone is located opposite No 178 on Portsmouth Road in Horndean. It is a square stone with a domed top. On the side facing the road, there is a mid-19th century cast iron plaque that is bolted to the stone. The plaque is inscribed with the distances: "60 miles from London, 8 from Petersfield, and 9 to Portsmouth."
