Description

The Old Forge is an 18th-century building located on Townsend Road in Towns End. It features a symmetrical front with two storeys and two windows. The roof is tiled, and at each end, there are large attached tapered stacks. The walls are made of red brick in Flemish bond with blue headers, and the ground floor has Dutch flat arches. The gables are half-timbered, and there are modern casement windows. A half-glazed gabled porch sits on a low brick wall. Attached to the east end is a long, plain single-storey block made of brick and tile, which includes the window and door openings typical of a blacksmith's shop.
