Description
Mere Cottage is a building dating from the 16th century, with early 19th-century alterations. Originally a timber-framed house with two and a half bays, it features an entrance that still conceals a large chimney breast. The cottage is one storey high with an attic and has three windows. It has a thatched roof, which includes a catslide at the rear, and the front eaves are raised above the upper windows, with cills at eaves level. The front, facing south-east, is constructed of brickwork, with openings set within slightly projecting panels. The brickwork is laid in Flemish bond with blue headers, and the ground floor openings are cambered. There is a flush blue band at the first floor on the south side panel. The windows are casements, and there are two small bays with hipped tile roofs. The entrance features a boarded door within a solid frame.
