Description

SU 45 NW ASHMANSWORTH ASHMANSWORTH 2/11 Mere Cottage II

C16, early C19. Once a timber-framed house of 2.2.1 bays, with the entrance still masking the massive chimney breast; re-fronted in the later period. One storey and attic, 3 windows. Thatched roof, with catslide at the rear, the front eaves being raised above the upper windows (with cills at eaves level). The front (south-east) is of brickwork, with the openings within separate slightly projecting panels, Flemish bond with blue headers, cambered ground floor openings, flush blue first floor band at the south side panel. Casements; 2 small bays with hipped tile roofs. Boarded door in solid frame.
