Description

Nos 68 and 69 on High Street are a pair of 18th century cottages that stand two storeys tall with an attic dormer, each featuring one window. The ground floor is made of painted brick, while the upper part has plaster that is grooved to imitate masonry. The cottages have a tiled roof. There are two doorways framed with fluted details and a projecting cornice above both entrances. No 69 retains its original six-panelled door, while No 68 has similar double doors and a slightly curved projecting shop window. The frame and cornice of this shop window are original, but the glazing bars are missing. The sash windows on the first floor still have their glazing bars intact. Nos 67 to 70, Nos 72 to 80, and Bank Chambers form a group with these cottages.
