Description

Rock House is a circa 1820 red brick house with blue brick headers, featuring a stuccoed east front and a slate hipped roof. The two-storey building includes a basement. It has sash windows with glazing bars and louvred shutters, with bay windows extending from the east side on both the ground and first floors. A brick string course runs along the facade. The central entrance has a moulded panelled door surmounted by a rectangular fanlight with glazing bars. Above the door is an inscription commemorating Dr Elizabeth Blackwell (1821-1910), the first woman doctor, who lived and worked at the house for thirty years.
