Description

Exmouth Cottage, dating to circa 1820, is a roughcast building, originally stuccoed, situated on Exmouth Place. The roof is a Mansard design, now covered with new slates, and includes a modern flat-roofed dormer. The cottage extends over two storeys, a basement, and an attic. The ground floor features an arched doorway with its original panelled door, approached by a flight of steps that have a handrail with turned newels and a pineapple finial. A sash window without glazing bars is visible on the ground floor, while the first floor has a canted bay window of sashes without glazing bars, supported by a heavy cornice and incorporating a cast iron balcony. A garage is located in the basement, at street level. Exmouth Cottage forms a group with the adjacent property at No. 6.
