Description
The Old Pump House Public House, located at 64 George Street, is an early 17th-century building that has undergone significant restoration. It features a timber frame, with the original weatherboarding removed. The structure stands three storeys tall, with the lower storey made of cobblestones. The first floor overhangs by 15 inches on the east side, and the gable end facing the street is supported by a bressummer and brackets. Modern wood mullion casements and a first-floor bay with leaded panes have replaced the former sash windows. The ground floor has been rebuilt, replacing the original shop front. A photograph taken before the restoration is available in the National Monuments Record. All listed buildings on George Street are part of a group.
