Description
Sylvesters is a cottage dating from the 16th century and later, featuring four timber-framed bays with painted brick infilling. It has an old tiled roof with gabled ends and an off-centre chimney on the ridge. There is a 20th-century painted brick extension on the right side that includes an entrance door. The building is L-shaped and has two storeys. The north front is jettied, roughcast, and painted, with a 20th-century three-light casement window that is partially leaded on the first floor, and another three-light casement window on the ground floor. The south front displays vertical clay tile hanging in the gable, with a small three-light old leaded casement window below the tiling, and a two-light casement window on the ground floor with a wooden hood above. Inside, the cottage features fine quality exposed timber framing that is almost complete.
