Description

Hinton Lodge is a large house dating from the 18th century, altered subsequently. It is constructed of vitreous brick with vertical red surrounds to each bay, with a vitreous brick pattern beneath the upper windows. Red brick quoins are present, and the roof is hipped with old tile covering. The house has symmetrical chimneys.

The south-west front is the principal facade and features a three-bay main block with sash windows with glazing bars in architrave frames. A six-panelled entrance door is situated centrally, protected by a flat pediment hood supported on scroll brackets and fluted pilasters, with a radiating semi-circular fanlight above. To the left of the main block is a slightly recessed bay, and a two-storey angular bay projects from the south-east front. This angular bay is half-octagonal, with a flat lead roof, three upper sash windows, and French casements on the ground floor. A four-bay 20th-century extension, built in a similar style, joins the south-east front, forming an L-plan. The interior contains no features of particular interest.
