Description

WARGRAVE CRAZIES HILL SU 78 SE (west side) The Crazies 1/31 26.1.67 II House. Early C20 with C18 porticoes and windows from Henley Town Hall built 1790, incorporated. Stucco, cornice, parapet to hipped slate roof, central arcaded octagonal cupola with dome and wrought iron weathervane. 2 storeys. South east front : 2 storye pedimented Doric portico with bulls eye in tympanum; ground floor has 4 Doric columns supporting plain frieze and cornice on heavy modillions, entrance door flanked by one sash window with glazing bars each side; first floor has similar columns with stone balustrading between, forming a recessed balcony with 3 bays; sash windows with glazing bars behind, and entablature with triglyph frieze. The entablature and pediment are wood. The portico has one bay on either side and flanking angular bays on return faces with sash windows and glazing bars. South west front: has a similar 2 storey portico in centre but without triglyph frieze and pediment, and with similar balustrading between upper columns.
