Description
The Horns Inn is an inn and barn, now functioning as a public house, dating from the late 16th century with 19th and 20th-century alterations. The building is timber framed with painted brick infilling and some weatherboarding, topped with an old tile roof and flanking chimneys. It has four framed bays and is one to two storeys high.
On the south-east elevation, there are two bays featuring 19th-century two-light casement windows with horizontal glazing bars on the first floor, which have small gables breaking the eaves. The central entrance door on the ground floor is sheltered by a board hood on brackets, with antlers attached to a carved wood skull fixed to the wall above. To the left of the door are 19th-century similar casements, and to the right is a three-light window. There is also a 19th-century single-storey extension from the right-hand gable. Adjoining the left-hand gable is a former barn that is partially weatherboarded, featuring one visible arch brace and a five-light casement window on the ground floor. The interior includes some exposed framing.
