Description

Barkham Square is a large house located on Barkham Street, dating from the 18th century and altered and extended in the 19th century. It features painted brick and old tile gabled roofs, with an irregular plan and two storeys. The building has several large chimneys and a modillioned cornice with a parapet that has coping. Most of the windows are sash windows with glazing bars. The south front includes a first-floor string and a large central semi-circular bow that extends the full height of the house, featuring three bays of tall sash windows. This bow is flanked by two unsymmetrical wings, each with two bays and a tall chimney near the centre.
