Description
The Dower House is a large house built in the 18th and 19th centuries, featuring a combination of brick and painted brick. It has an old tile roof with varying heights, including both gabled and hipped sections, and is designed in an H-plan layout. The house is two storeys tall and has two prominent chimneys on the part facing the road.
The east front, which faces the road, has three bays and includes sash windows with glazing bars: three on the first floor and two tripartite windows on the ground floor, located on either side of a 20th-century glazed door that has a moulded cornice and a projecting frame.
The west garden front is irregular in shape and features sash windows with glazing bars and wide architrave frames: there are four on the first floor and three tall sashes on the ground floor, along with a canted bay window on the right. To the left of center, there is a round-headed staircase window with glazing bars that radiate at the head. The Dower House is adjacent to The Old Cottage, which is listed separately. An interior inspection was not conducted during the survey.
