Description

Langleypound Farmhouse is a late 16th-century farmhouse that has been altered in the 18th, 19th, and mid-20th centuries. It is now divided into two houses. The structure is timber framed and encased in vitreous brick with red dressings, featuring a tiled gabled roof and false timbering on the gables with roughcast infill. The building has an H-plan layout with crosswings on the north and south sides, and a small one-storey extension added at the rear. It stands two storeys high and has a large late 16th-century flank chimney on the right, a later ridge chimney, and another chimney on the left-hand crosswing.

The entrance front includes a brick string course and features 2 and 3-light 20th-century leaded casements, some of which have segmental brick arches. The main part of the house consists of three bays, with a blocked centre window on the first floor and a 20th-century entrance door located under a small hipped roof on the left. The left crosswing gable projects slightly, while the right crosswing gable is flush with the main part of the building.

Inside, the left-hand crosswing on the ground floor reveals two exposed moulded beams, along with a fragment of an outer beam that has a Tudor rose carved in relief. The main part of the house features an inglenook chimney with a spice alcove.
