Description

The dovecote and animal shed at Swallowfield Park dates from the mid-18th century. It is constructed of brick with a combination of slate and old tile on timber framing. The building has an octagonal shape and features an arcaded glover. Surrounding the dovecote is an open animal shed, which is supported at its corners by timber posts with shaped brackets. This shed has a hipped old tile roof that rises up to just below the eaves of the dovecote. Above, the dovecote itself has an octagonal hipped slate roof that culminates in a ball finial.
